The recent storms ravaged many homes and businesses in the Lake District and now, despite the weather having calmed, Cumbria is still facing difficult times with tourist numbers having dropped considerably.

Fortunately one iconic Glenridding enterprise has begun to bounce back.

Ullswater Steamers suffered extensive damage to its fleet and the facilities associated with it at Glenridding. The steamers serve as one the area's major attractions, linking up Ullswater and the many walking routes nearby.

Mindful of its critical role for tourism in the area, the company immediately sought to get services up and running as quickly as possible, and thanks to a concerted community endeavour involving an army of volunteers its tours of Ullswater have now resumed from Glenridding Pier.

The business is now calling on tourists to return to visit the lake and support other local enterprises as well.
