Sir Chris Bonington has inspired not only British climbers but the British public at large for over 50 years. He was the first person to conquer the south face of Annapurna, he's climbed Everest four times and in 1948 he took on a terrifying, 137-metre tall sea stack in the Orkney Islands called the Old Man of Hoy.
Last year, aged 80 and with the help of friend Leo Houlding (pictured) he conquered the stack yet again. Watch this incredible video documenting the feat; it shows exactly why our readers chose him as TGO Outdoor Personality of the Year for 2014.
